Prison tattoo parlours get the axe
“Our government will not spend taxpayers’ money on providing tattoos for convicted criminals,” Stockwell Day, federal public safety minister, said Monday.
“Our priority is to have an effective federal corrections system that protects Canadians, while providing inmates with access to acceptable health care and treatment programs.”
Nice work Stockwell Day. I can’t believe I liked you back in the day. When are these right wing, conservative idiots going to realize that the moral high ground has continued to fail?
Programs to teach inmates about the risks of tattooing are not going to stop people from getting prison tattoos. There’s one thing that will provide a potential increase in diseases transferred through the process of tattooing though, and that’s getting rid of the safe, clean prison tattoo parlors.
