The democratic rights of California as a state, and the people within it are at stake thanks to San Diego County.
The county of San Diego is suing the state of California over its medical cannabis laws, alleging that the state’s requirement for county health departments to issue patient ID cards is forcing the county to allow its citizens to break federal law.
This is, of course, ridiculous. A county is within a state, and a state is its own governing body within a union of many. Fifty, to be exact. If this ignorance towards state rights continues in America than we Canadians can feel little hope for even our own sovereignty.
